Bulgarian President Rumen Radev Friday talked over the phone with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Radev's press secretariat reported. The two discussed the bilateral cooperation in a series of areas, particularly innovation, technology, and energy.

Radev gave a high mark to Qatar's consistent efforts to de-escalate the conflict in the Middle East, put an end to the military actions and subsequently find a lasting peaceful solution. In that relation, the Bulgarian President noted the mediator actions of Qatar for the solution of humanitarian issues, including the release of hostages, among them Bulgarian nationals - the captain and first mate of the Galaxy Leader, as well as those taken hostage during Hamas' attack on the State of Israel in October 2023.

Radev invited the Emir of Qatar to visit Bulgaria for subsequent deepening of the bilateral partnership and political dialogue at the highest level, the press release reads.
