"There has been no visit to Bulgaria by the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency," the Government Information Service said on Friday, responding to media queries on the matter.

Earlier in the day, several Bulgarian media quoted the Kosovo Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) as reporting on August 22 that, as part of an unannounced visit to the Balkan region, CIA Director William Burns "is believed to have traveled from Sarajevo to Belgrade, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia before arriving in Kosovo."

"According to the flight-tracking website Flightradar24, a U.S. military plane believed to be used to fly the CIA chief made stops in those countries," RFE/RL added.
