site.btaDeposits Continue to Increase at end-July, but at Slower Rate

At the end of July 2024, deposits of the non-government sector were BGN 132.034 billion (67.4% of GDP), increasing annually by 9.9% (10.4% annual growth in June 2024), the Bulgarian National Bank said on Friday.

Deposits of non-financial corporations were BGN 44.574 billion (22.8% of GDP) at the end of July 2024. Compared to the same month of 2023 they increased by 8.9% (9.1% annual growth in June 2024).

Deposits of financial corporations decreased by 16.9% annually in July 2024 (11.6% annual decline in June 2024) and at the end of the month they were BGN 3.330 billion (1.7% of GDP).

Deposits of households and NPISHs were BGN 84.130 billion (42.9% of GDP) at the end of July 2024. They increased by 11.9% compared to the same month of 2023 (12.2% annual growth in June 2024)

At the end of July 2024, claims on loans to the non-government sector amounted to BGN 97.507 billion (49.8% of GDP) compared to BGN 96.366 billion (49.2% of GDP) at the end of June 2024. They increased annually by 13.9% in July 2024 (13.6% annual growth in June 2024). 

In July 2024, loans to non-financial corporations increased by 8.7% annually (8.5% annual growth in June 2024) and at the end of the month amounted to BGN 46.461 billion (23.7% of GDP). 

Loans to Households and NPISHs were BGN 43.009 billion (22% of GDP) at the end of July 2024. They increased by 19.6% compared to the same month of 2023 (19% annual growth in June 2024).

At the end of July 2024 loans for house purchases were BGN 22.730 billion and increased by 25.1% annually (24.8% annual growth in June 2024). 

Consumer loans amounted to BGN 18.528 billion and compared to July 2023 they rose by 14.7% (14 % annual growth in June 2024). On an annual basis other loans 10 increased by 10.7% (5.8% annual growth in June 2024) and reached BGN 432.1 million. 

Loans granted to financial corporations were BGN 8.037 billion at the end of July 2024 (4.1% of GDP). Compared to July 2023, they increased by 16.7% (17.2% annual growth in June 2024).
