On August 23, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov received copies of the credentials of newly appointed Ambassador of Ireland to Sofia Catherine Bannon, the ministry said.

During the meeting, the two diplomats noted the excellent relations between Bulgaria and Ireland, both bilaterally and within the EU. They expressed readiness to intensify the high-level political dialogue and deepen cooperation in key areas of mutual interest, including innovation, information technology and digitalisation. The positive developments in tourism between the two countries and the increasing number of Irish tourists visiting Bulgaria during the winter season were also touched upon.

Deputy Minister Kondov expressed gratitude for Ireland's consistent support for Bulgaria's accession to the OECD and the Eurozone, the release said.
