Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov received a letter of thanks from French Minister of the Interior and Overseas Gerald Darmanin, the Interior Ministry said on Friday. Darmanin commended the excellent work of Bulgarian police officers that the Interior Ministry sent to support their French counterparts in providing security for the summer Olympic Games in Paris.

"The support you are giving us in connection with this exceptional event represents a valuable contribution to guaranteeing the security of the Games, to ensuring the best welcome for your compatriots in France and, last but not least, to illustrating the quality of cooperation between our two countries in the management of large-scale events," the letter from the French Interior Minister said. In it, Gerald Darmanin underlines Bulgaria's important contribution to security during the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games by sending 37 officials.

The Head of the Central Directorate of Public Security in Perpignan also expressed satisfaction with the joint work. In letters to each of the border police officers who worked in Perpignan from July 11 to August 8, Charlotte Nouet noted the high level of professionalism demonstrated by her Bulgarian colleagues throughout the cooperation mission.
