Caretaker Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov attended the commemorative ceremony at the Srebrenica–Potocari Memorial and Cemetery for the Victims of the 1995 Genocide. As a sign of respect to the victims, he laid flowers on the memorial plaque and signed the book of condolences, the Ministry of Education and Science said on its website Thursday.

"We bow to the memory of the victims. It is up to us, the living, to never let this happen again," Tsokov wrote in the commemorative book.

This year, by its resolution, the UN General Assembly declared July 11 as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica. Representatives of dozens of countries attended the commemoration ceremony in Potocari, and Bulgaria was among the delegations represented at ministerial level.

During the commemoration, Minister Tsokov was accompanied by Bulgaria's Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Valeri Yotov, the Ministry of Education and Science added.
