1990: Diplomatic relations established with Ireland.

2007: First private T-post office opens first branch in Sofia.

2007: Libya's Supreme Court of Cassation confirms death sentences of five Bulgarian nurses passed on May 6, 2004. On July 24, 2007, they are released from Judeida Prison and flown to Sofia aboard French government plane, accompanied by French President Nicolas Sarkozy's wife Cecilia and European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
