site.btaCC Co-leader Petkov: No Natural Support for GERB-UDF Government, It Relies on Bought Vote
Before a Tuesday meeting of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) parliamentary group, CC co-leader Kiril Petkov told journalists that his group's position remains unchanged. CC-DB does not see any natural support for a government of GERB-UDF, if any support is there, it is based on a bought vote.
Petkov commented on the proposed minority government by GERB-UDF. He said that whether or not this government will actually become a reality depends on whether GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Movement for Right and Freedoms (MRF) leader Delyan Peevski will buy enough votes from the other parliamentary groups. GERB-UDF and MRF are the first two political parties in parliament, CC-DB is third in number of MPs. "It would be a shame for me if the next Bulgarian government is based on a bought vote in parliament," he added.
CC-DB will be entirely consistent with the position it took in the beginning and it will be a strong opposition if such a government is realized, Petkov said. He noted that his parliamentary group will not leave any of their corruption schemes unnoticed. "Our voters can count on a consistent position and that we will fight for their interests," Petkov stressed.
He said that on Wednesday the entire parliamentary group of CC-DB will participate in the parliamentary sitting. CC-DB has 39 MPs.
