A delegation from Bahrain, led by the country’s Ombudsman Ghada Hameed Habib, visited Bulgaria’s second-largest city of Plovdiv on November 22.

The delegation was in Bulgaria at the invitation of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination, which signed a memorandum of cooperation with Hameed Habib’s office. The Ombudsman of Bahrain met with Vice President Iliana Iotova on November 20.

In Plovdiv, the guests met with the city’s Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov. They were briefed on the past and the present of one of Europe’s oldest cities. The delegation visited the Plovdiv Regional Mufti’s Office, where they were received by Regional Mufti Taner Veli.

They were shown around the historical quarter of Plovdiv, known as the Old Town. They said they were impressed by the rich archaeological and architectural heritage of the place, its atmosphere and magnetism.

On November 23, the Bahraini delegation travelled to the Rila Monastery, Bulgaria’s biggest and most famous monastic complex, where they learned about its extensive history.
