In his exhibition Raw Perspectives, Todor Rabadzhiyski explores the essence of art in an era where the line between creation and consumption is blurred, organizers from +359 Gallery, which will host the exhibition starting November 28, said here on Monday.
The artist explores whether art serves as a mirror reflecting human fears and desires or as an escape, the gallery team said. Rabadzhiyski's works invite the audience to explore these questions through materials that both gleam and corrode, that evoke feelings of trust and doubt.
"The works featured in the exhibition draw inspiration from the artist's raw poetics, depicting a landscape formed by plasma-cut metals, subdued groans, and compressed waste, a metaphorical 'tower city' where meaning is both pursued and dismissed," the gallery team said. They noted that the exhibition oscillates between humour and despair, showcasing objects that are simultaneously industrial and intimate, chaotic and precise.
Rabadzhiyski is a visual artist. He completed his education at the Ilia Petrov National School of Fine Arts in 2018 and pursued further studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, Netherlands, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in fine arts in 2022. His work delves into themes like memory, identity, and modern social dynamics.
Since 2015, Rabadzhiyski has been involved in group exhibitions across Europe and other regions. He earned a gold medal at the 18th International Fine Arts Competition for Children and Youth in Torun, Poland, and received an award at the Third International Ex libris Competition for Young Artists in Vladimir, Russia. He also participated in the 14th Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition. His works have also been displayed in Antarctica as part of the Eco Antarctica competition, organized by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute.
