Thracian Warrior - 24, the largest exercise of the ground forces for this year, started on May 28, the Defence Ministry said. The official opening ceremony took place at the Koren training ground, where participants were congratulated by Brigadier General Plamen Yordanov, who will oversee the exercise.

Thracian Warrior - 24 will continue until 4 June at the training ranges at Koren and Novo Selo. More than 2,000 servicemen and up to 700 units of equipment are taking part. 
The exercise also includes personnel and aircraft for close air support and aerial evacuation from the Air Force, formations from the NATO Multinational Battle Group in Bulgaria, teams from the Military Medical Academy, the Military Police Service, lecturers and students at the Rakovski National Defence College, as well as officers and cadets from the Vasil Levski National Military University and a civil-military cooperation team from the US Army.

During the exercise, combat firing with mechanized, tank and artillery formations, firing with close air support, as well as firing with HIMARS rocket launcher from the 181st Artillery Regiment of the Tennessee National Guard from the USA will be conducted. Starlink satellite network terminals and unmanned aerial vehicles will be used.

The NATO Multinational Battle Group in Bulgaria participates with formations from Italy, Albania, Greece, North Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro and the United States at the Novo Selo training area.

Within the framework of Thracian Warrior - 24, from June 1 to 3 June, a tactical live-fire exercise with the formations of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade will take place at the Koren training ground.

On June 4, a Capability Demonstration Day will take place.
