Kosovo's parliamentary elections are over, Kosovo media reported on Sunday evening. These were the first regular parliamentary elections since the country declared independence from Serbia in 2008. All previous parliamentary elections were early ones.

Polling stations opened at 7 am local time and closed shortly after 7 pm.

The Kosovo Central Election Commission (CEC) is expected to present turnout figures at a press conference. As of 5:30 pm local time, the turnout was 28.73%, according to CEC figures.

Kosovo citizens elected their MPs in the 120-seat parliament among 28 political parties and coalitions with 1,280 candidates.

The number of eligible voters in the parliamentary elections was 2,075,868, including 1,970,944 voters within Kosovo and 104,924 voters abroad.

Voting abroad ended on Saturday.
