A direct charter line between Bucharest and Plovdiv will be opened during the 2024/2025 winter season to boost tourism in the region, Pamporovo AD Executive Director Marian Belyakov said at a meeting in Bulgaria's embassy in Bucharest on Thursday. The event gathered officials from Bulgaria’s Economy Ministry, representatives of the municipal administration of Bucharest, entrepreneurs and representatives of the tourism industry.

Belyakov presented the opportunities that the winter resort of Pamporovo offers for recreation, sports, among others.

Bulgaria's Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov recalled that on October 7 Bulgarian Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev and his Romanian counterpart Stefan-Radu Oprea have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and come up with a common tourism product. Vlaykov added that this could also contribute to increasing the tourist flow between Bulgaria and Romania.

Belyakov added that Pamporovo is the closest winter resort to Bucharest. However, the drive is about 6 hours long and the only air connection is between Bucharest and Sofia. The flight from Bucharest to Plovdiv will take about 40 minutes, and there will be an organized transfer from Plovdiv to Pamporovo. He added that there will be flights every Saturday morning and will be operated by Airbus 220 aircraft. In addition to the organized tour packages, there will also be free ticket sales if seats are available.
