site.bta5th Skopje Pride Takes Place in Republic of North Macedonia
The 5th annual Skopje Pride took place on Saturday in the Republic of North Macedonia.
Participants urged institutions to protect the human rights and freedoms of all citizens and to guarantee a safe life, equal opportunities, non-discrimination and social inclusion for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. They also called on the government to provide an education system, curricula and programmes that will build the worldview of future generations based on democratic values, solidarity, empathy and care, and urged Parliament to adopt a law on birth certificates with an included model for legal gender recognition based on self-determination.
This year Skopje Pride was supported by the embassies of the EU, USA, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands, whose representatives attended the event, as did former minister of culture Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska and of labor and social policy Jovanka Trenchevska, the media in the country reposrted.
