site.btaSchools in Turkiye's Tekirdag Region Take Snow Day

A number of schools in the area of Tekirdag in northwestern Turkiye are taking a snow day due to adverse weather conditions, state-run TRT-Haber television reported.

Tekirdag has been gripped by a cold wave coming from the Balkans over the past few days. It has been snowing in the region and temperatures have dropped below freezing.

In many places the heavy snowfall has made traffic difficult and there are icy conditions. Roads in up to ten settlements are closed to traffic.

Public and private schools in the towns of Malkara, Sharkoy and Suleyman Pasha have been cancelling classes since Wednesday.

School students, pregnant women, and the disabled are allowed to stay away from work on Thursday.
