Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov said the presence of Turkish companies in the Black Sea city had increased in 2024. He addressed a business forum in Burgas on Friday. The event, held for the third time, aims to strengthen economic ties between the three countries. "Our Turkish friends have long understood that we have our pluses, as the turnover of goods grows every year, and so does the presence of Turkish business in Bulgaria," the Mayor said, adding that companies from Turkiye have chosen sites for their enterprises in the expanded industrial zones of Burgas.
He stressed that Burgas could also offer opportunities for Romanian companies, as business wants a stable environment, guaranteed legislation and good logistics - and Burgas offers all this.
Nikolov added that within a few years, construction of the southern bypass of Burgas should begin, which would significantly shorten the time for deliveries between Bulgaria and Turkiye. He added that this would involve modernizing the border crossing at Malko Tarnovo and expanding the road connection to Burgas.
The business forum was organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, together with the Bulgarian-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.
