Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev has met with the German Ambassador in Sofia, Irene Maria Plank. Georgiev briefed Plank on Bulgaria’s progress towards joining the euro area and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, stressing that this country will continue to rely on Germany's support in this regard.

The sides also discussed international and regional developments and the challenges facing Europe.

Georgiev and Plank praised the long-standing fruitful cooperation between Bulgaria and Germany, both on a bilateral basis and within the frameworks of the European Union and NATO.

The pair also explored ways to further deepen cooperation in key sectors, including economy, security and defence, energy, and tourism, among others.
