A permanent exhibition of replicas of the Treasure from Bukyovtsi will be featured in the town of Mizia, Northwestern Bulgaria, Slavyana Slavkova from the local administration told BTA. The replicas will be exhibited in the local museum for the first time during the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the declaration of Mizia as a town and the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the treasure, which will be celebrated on February 13.

Municipal Council Chair Tatyana Spasova, Municipality Mayor Valya Bercheva and the municipal councilors from the GERB group in Mizia have initiated and paid for replicas of six objects from the treasure. "We have been working on the idea for more than half a year and are happy that we will be able to exhibit and present them in different places in the country in order to promote our municipality," said Spasova.

Part of the treasure was discovered in 1925 by Alexander Yonchev while he was working on his vineyard. Another part was found ten years later, while the same man was constructing on his plot, Alexandra Petrova, archaeologist and head of the Archaeology Department at the Regional Historical Museum in Vratsa, told BTA. The artefacts were discovered near Bukyovtsi  (later renamed Mizia). She added that the treasure contains several silver vessels, a braided chain and a chest decoration consisting of fibulae. The treasure dates back to the second half of the 5th century BC and the second half of the 4th century BC, and its chronology is close to that of the Rogozen treasure, the archaeologist added.

The originals of the treasure are kept at the Archaeological Institute in Sofia, said Petrova.
