site.btaUniversity of Veliko Tarnovo Launches Tenth International Translation Competition for Bulgarian Language Learners

The Tenth International Translation Competition, Transformations 2025, organized by St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, has commenced, the University said here on Thursday. 

Bulgarian students, international school and university students studying Bulgarian are all eligible to participate, the University added.

The competition is organized by the Faculty of Philology with support from the Ministry of Education and Science. Participants can compete in the Prose and Poetry categories. Those who place in the top three in each category will have an advantage when applying for programmes within the Faculty of Philology.

The competition includes two main types of translation: translating foreign authors into Bulgarian for participants from Bulgaria and translating Bulgarian authors into a foreign language for participants outside Bulgaria. For international participants studying Bulgarian, texts by Bulgarian authors whose anniversaries will be celebrated in 2025 have been provided, the University noted.

Translations must be submitted by March 23, and results will be announced on May 11 on the Faculty of Philology's website.
