Germany remains Bulgaria's strongest economic partner. Two-way trade is estimated at EUR 12 billion euros in 2024, said German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce President Tim Kurth.
"But our partnership is not limited to numbers. It is also about shared values and common goals. Together we are struggling with challenges such as the shortage of skilled labour and we need to find a solution," said Tim Kurth in his speech at the Chamber's annual reception, held at the University of National and World Economy on Thursday evening. During the event, of which BTA is a media partner, the Chamber presented for the 21st time the Awards of the German Economy in Bulgaria.
Kurth views 2025 as a year of exciting opportunities. Key developments in the coming months, according to him, will be the German elections, Bulgaria's preparations for eurozone membership and the benefits of Bulgaria's full Schengen membership.
Tim Kurth announced that the Chamber is preparing for the election of its new Board of Trustees, the German-Bulgarian Defence Day and delegations to and from Germany in the fields of aviation, medical technology and pharmaceuticals among others. Preparations are also being made for participation in trade fairs.
