The premiere of the world's first concerto for violin, accordion and orchestra, composed by Minko Lambov, will take place on Wednesday, January 29, at Sofia's Central Military Club, the organizers said.

The concert will feature renowned Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Rusev, Veronika Todorova on the accordion, and The Sofia Sinfonietta. The musical event combines elements of Bulgarian folklore, jazz, classical music and tango. Lambov created a work with the mission of connecting tradition and innovation in music, presenting a unique dialogue between the past, present and future, the musicians commented.

Svetlin Rusev will play a 300-year-old Stradivarius violin for the first time in front of a Sofia audience, recently provided to him by the Bulgarian state for five years.

Minko Lambov's composition is part of his Inspiration cycle, which includes three instrumental concerts inspired by musicians Tsvetan Nedyalkov (guitar), Ventsislav Blagoev (trumpet), Svetlin Rusev (violin), and Veronika Todorova (accordion). The first guitar concert in the cycle was performed with soloist Tsvetan Nedyalkov in early 2024, and the premiere of the second, featuring trumpeter Ventsislav Blagoev, took place in the summer of 2024.

Part of the proceeds from the Inspiration concert will go to the Kiril Lambov Foundation, which aims to support young talents, to preserve the musical and musical-stage cultural heritage of Bulgaria, to assist children and young people in disadvantaged situations. Lambov was the father and sole composition teacher of Minko Lambov.

“Through the accordion and violin in the hands of masters like Veronika and Svetlin, as a composer I have the opportunity to portray everything that for me represents a musical challenge and inspiration. I believe that this effect will also multiply through the soloists and the orchestra", said Minko Lambov.
