There is heavy truck traffic at of Bulgaria's border control checkpoints with Romania and Greece, Border Police said on their website. The information is valid as at 6 am on Thursday.

Traffic is heavy at the Kulata border checkpoint  with Greece. Only cars and vans are allowed to pass through the Makaza, Zlatograd, and Ivaylovgrad border crossing points.

Traffic is also normal at all checkpoints at the borders with Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia and Turkiye. Temporarily, traffic through the Bulgarian-Turkish Malko Tarnovo border checkpoint with Turkiye will be carried out in one lane due to reconstruction works.

At the border with Romania, there is heavy outbound truck traffic at the Kardam checkpoint. Temporary traffic changes have been introduced across the Danube Bridge at Ruse due to major repairs on the Bulgarian section of the bridge, Border Police recalled. Traffic is restricted to one lane and is regulated by traffic lights. Drivers can take alternative routes through the checkpoints at Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kaynardzha, and Krushari. The last two of these are closed to trucks and are open to passenger cars from 8 am to 8 pm.

No significant changes are expected to the infrastructure in the area of the Danube Bridge checkpoint after January 1, 2025. The changes will be mainly related to the signaling and organization of traffic in the area, the border checkpoint told BTA. The goal is to ensure better permeability of the main flow of cars crossing the border from the beginning of 2025.
