site.btaUPDATED Prime Minister Glavchev: Incomes Will Increase, Basic Direct and Indirect Taxes Will Remain Unchanged under 2025 Budget
The incomes of Bulgarian citizens are being increased and the tax rates of the main direct and indirect taxes will remain unchanged, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said at the beginning of the government meeting on Wednesday, commenting on the draft budget for next year.
The framework of the budget is known. It shows that we aspire to the euro area, Glavchev said.
"Today's meeting, although regular, is special. We have to consider the most important laws of the year, which are the State Budget Act, the Public Social Insurance Budget Act and the Health Insurance Fund Budget Act. Apart from anything else, this has not been done by another caretaker government. We are again taking on the responsibility that has not been taken on by other caretaker cabinets because we are complying with the legislation and we are guided by the interests of the Bulgarian citizens," he said.
On December 12, the caretaker government expects Bulgaria's full Schengen membership to be formally confirmed, Glavchev said further. "The benefits will be for everyone. In practice, there will be no border with Greece; border control will remain with Romania, just like between Schengen countries when they restore their border control, which is far different from that currently between Bulgaria and Romania. The same control will be applied at the border between Hungary and Romania," Glavchev specified.
