“For us, the Panagyurishte treasure is not only a historical treasure, it is an epitome of Bulgaria,” said Vice President Iliana Iotova in her address at a concert which concluded the celebrations dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the discovery of the Thracian treasure.

Panagyurishte Mayor Zhelyazko Gagov said that it is our responsibility to discover and preserve the new Bulgarian treasures to leave for the next generations. “From now on Panagyurishte will have the ambition to be the city that unites people, because we all have a common past and a common future,” he said.
Attending were National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova, Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev, MPs and Pazardzhik Regional Governor Valentina Kaitazova.

Earlier, they visited the place where on December 8, 1949 three brothers discovered the treasure and led a torchlight procession from the Merul locality to the center of Panagyurishte.

The celebrations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the discovery of the Panagyurishte gold treasure began on December 4 and were under the auspices of Vice President Iliana Iotova.
