"The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) strongly condemns any violence against the individual, any attack on the political rights of citizens to vote and to be voted for, on the free and fair electoral process," a position published on the party's website on Sunday reads. 

The socialists condemn the attempted assassination of one of the US presidential candidates, Donald Trump, and express their concern about the implications it may have both on American domestic politics and potentially on global relations, the position paper reads. The party's Executive Bureau says that it expects the investigation into the crime to be concluded swiftly to prevent further confrontation and division in society. 

Former US president Donald Trump, the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for the upcoming presidential election in the US, was shot in the right ear during a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday evening, Reuters reported, quoting a statement of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI recently announced that the shooter had been identified.
