site.btaBTA Livestreams from 27 EU Member States about European Elections
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Monday staged an event in which the agency's special correspondents came in live from all 27 EU Member States where they covered the 2024 European Parliament elections on site in collaboration with the team of BTA staffers in the newsroom back in Sofia.
BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and the Head of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Bulgaria Teodor Stoychev opened the event at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia. Valchev called on the media people to reinstate the International Press Centre that used to be organized for elections in Bulgaria. “I want to take this opportunity to propose to all Bulgarian media that BTA should be a platform for statements in the next parliamentary elections in Bulgaria. Politicians should have a place to speak immediately after voting is closed - not as they did last night with short thank-yous on social networks. It is time to restore the international press centre. It is also time to restore the debates, interviews and general press conferences,” he added.
Via video conference during the special event, the BTA correspondents reported the voting results and approached journalists and analysts in the respective countries for comment.
The newscast could be watched on the BTA Facebook page.
The rest of the agency's national press clubs in Bulgaria and abroad joined in by video link.
