Kalin Stoyanov, MP from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) – New Beginning told journalists in Parliament on April 1, 2025, that Bulgaria needs a Parliament-appointed government that is stable. “It is for that very reason that we support what we consider is good for all Bulgarian citizens,” he added.
Asked to comment on whether MRF – New Beginning would support the government until the publishing of the convergence report ahead of Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone, Stoyanov said it was too early to say. “We will support anything that is in favor of Bulgarian citizens,” he added.
Asked how MRF - New Beginning will vote on the no-confidence motion, Stoyanov said, “Let’s hear the debate, which I suppose will be quite thorough and then we will make our decision.”
Asked to pick “elections or support for the government,” he said that the question shouldn’t be addressed to him. “The leadership of the parliamentary group meets daily and makes these decisions,” he said.
“I can see that colleagues from Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (DRF) are very confused, I personally don’t know what to expect,” Stoyanov added. Asked if, should DRF decide to pull out their support for the government, MRF – New Beginning would take their place, Stoyanov repeated that they would support what is good for the people. He mentioned as an example the adoption of the 2025 Budget Act with the support of his group.
