March 4 (BTA) - Minister of Culture Boil Banov opened an exhibition УThe World of the Bulgarian Discoverers and InventorsФ in the European Commission HQ in Brussels, his ministry informed on Wednesday.

The project was initiated by EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel. The exhibition was compiled by the National Polytechnic Museum in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. On the occasion of Bulgaria's Liberation Day (March 3), the exhibition aims to demonstrate the contribution of 11 Bulgarian scientists to technological progress and Europe's development.

Commissioner Gabriel emphasized the contributions by Bulgarian scientists to the fields of computing, space exploration, discoveries in chemistry, physics, medicine, aviation, etc.

The event was attended by Secretary-General of the European Commission Ilze Juhansone, MEPs, journalists, educators and others. The children from the Bulgarian department with the European School in Brussels gave a recital of patriotic poetry, and the Bulgarian Choir in Brussels, conducted by Nadezhda Nikolova, delighted the visitors with their performance of patriotic songs.
