MPs passed on second reading amendments to the Agricultural Producers Support Act, which ensure the implementation of support measures for farmers, here on Wednesday. The amendments provide for an extension of the deadline for the application of the State aid scheme "Reduced Excise Duty on Gas Oil Used in Primary Agricultural Production" until the end of 2026.

The bill was sponsored by GERB-UDF MP and Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Desislava Taneva.

According to the Committee's report, the amendments will require applicants to prove that their income from agricultural activity makes up at least 10% of the total farm income in order to qualify as an active farmer, instead of at least 33%, as is the case now.
