Ilia Kuzmanov, Chairman of the Trade Union Federation of Employees in the Interior Ministry, Tuesday said changes at the Ministry were unjustified right now. He was talking to reporters after meeting with caretaker prime minister-designate Dimitar Glavchev. Kuzmanov said that the two had not discussed personnel changes and that things were normal at the Ministry, adding that a calm atmosphere was conducive to good performance.

Kuzmanov said Glavchev was mostly listening and wanted to learn about the situation at the Interior Ministry.

"We want stability, we want the person with whom something has started to be able to finish it, insofar as this thing is positive," Kuzmanov said. He added that the Trade Union Federation has no functions linked to the Ministry's leadership.

"I can say that the 'ice age' with the interior ministers of the last three or four years was not good for anyone," said Kuzmanov. He added that the trade union does not want a specific person, but is talking in principle. "Even if it was not [the most recent interior minister] Kalin Stoyanov, but another person who treated the employees like this, we would still support this person," he said.

Kuzmanov stressed that neither Glavchev mentioned a candidate for caretaker interior minister, nor had the Federation been approached by likely candidates, but if it does not like the proposed person and has the proper arguments, they will say so.
