site.btaBulgarian, US Air Forces to Conduct Joint Exercise at Bezmer Air Base
The Air Forces of Bulgaria and the US will conduct a joint exercise on April 2, the Defence Ministry said on Monday. Servicemen from Bezmer Air Base (Southeastern Bulgaria) and forward air controllers from the US Air Force will conduct a simulated strike against ground targets from B-1 aircraft based at Morón Air Base, Spain.
The B-1s' missions are part of the US contribution to enhanced vigilance measures in the Black Sea region and are intended to demonstrate the US commitment to NATO's collective defence through participation in joint training and exercises with Partners and Allies.
The joint exercise will be a valuable opportunity to upgrade the training of Bulgarian servicemen and will confirm the readiness of the Bulgarian Air Force to counter decisively any military threats, the Defence Ministry said. Through its actions, the Bulgarian Air Force will reaffirm its commitment to NATO's collective defence and will demonstrate its determination to ensure security in the region.
The exercise will be conducted for the second year in a row.
