On Thursday, Parliament will debate on first reading a new law on the Bulgarian National Bank introduced by the Council of Ministers. It regulates a fundamental change from the strongly restrictive currency board arrangement introduced in Bulgaria in July 1997 to the assertion of currency sovereignty within the framework of the shared monetary sovereignty of the Eurosystem. The draft law regulates the status of the euro and determines the design of the national side of the euro coins and the introduction and withdrawal euro banknotes and coins.

The MPs will also give a hearing to Regional Development Minister Andrey Tsekov and Energy Minister Rumen Radev on the energy renovation of residential buildings. Defence Minister Todor Tagarev will be given a hearing on the goals and results of his working visit to the US earlier in January. Both hearings were proposed by BSP for Bulgaria.
