More than 350 statements for various violations have been issued during more than 1,800 inspections of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) since the beginning of the  agency's summer campaign for compliance with tax and social security legislation on the Black Sea coast. Nearly 100 of the statements - for non-issuance of a cash receipt and cash difference - were paid within 14 days, the NRA said Thursday.

The NRA found that many of the owners of the utlets sanctioned for these two violations preferred to pay immediately rather than appeal the statements. Thus, in addition to the fact that significant sums of money directly enter the executive budget, the business also benefits by taking advantage of the legal possibility to pay within 14 days 20% less than the value of the fine, the NRA said.

The tax authorities report improved fiscal discipline and increased turnover as a result of the control actions. Differences in cash balances and failure to issue a cash receipt remain the most common offences. They are observed in every 14th check. At the same time, drastic breaches of tax and social security legislation are isolated - so far only small establishments along the coast have been found to be operating without a fiscal device. No commercial outlets have been sealed. No cases of seasonal workers employed without contracts have been detected either, the NRA reports.
