The Association of Global South Studies (AGSS), an international body for scholarly articles on the peoples and issues of the global South, founded by faculty from Georgia Southwestern State University and Louisiana State University Shreveport, held its annual conference in Sofia between July 21 and 23, the AGSS reported Thursday.

Since its inception in 1983, the Association has held 38 annual international conferences and has published 78 issues of its Journal of Global South Studies.

The forum was divided into two sessions: on the life and work of US President Jimmy Carter and on the problems of the Third World nations. The final paper on the history and culture of Bulgaria was given by Assoc. Prof. of Physics Svilen Kostov from Georgia Southwestern State University.
