Fourteen children from the Taraclia region travelled to Bulgaria on Thursday after being selected by the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community in Moldova (ADBCM). Seven won their places through a lottery at their 2024 graduation ball, and five others were victorious in a Facebook contest called "My Native Bulgarian Region". Two other youths participated in the Bulgarian Language Olympiad, which took place in May this year.
The organisation that provided logistics and covered the travel expenses for the Bessarabian Bulgarian children said that during their stay in Bulgaria, the group will visit historical sites in Sofia, including the National Assembly building, the Rila Monastery, and the town of Pernik.
Head of ADBCM Alexander Borimechkov used his Facebook account to thank the association’s partners Nikola Rahnev and Gorata.bg for hosting the children during their stay in Bulgaria. "I am thankful to Nikola Rahnev and Gorata.bg for their hospitality and to the Taraclia Bread Factory Milina for providing pastries for the children's send-off," Borimechkov said.
