Vice President Iliana Iotova will unveil a monument to Bulgarian freedom fighter Vasil Levski in Taraclia. Moldovan President Maia Sandu will attend the formal ceremony.
The event will continue with a meeting between Iotova, Sandu and local students.
The monument is erected next to the entrance of the Youth Cultural Centre and is donated by the Association of Bulgarians
Around World and sponsors. Among them is the Bulgarian Knights Templar Order, the Chairman of the World Parliament of Bulagrians with the Associations, Hristo Hristov, and the creator of the monument prof. Dimitar Rashkov, who donated his work.
In March, the local authorities in Ruse set aside BGN 10,000
for the construction of the monument. The Danubian city also hosted a concert to raise money for the monument.
The Vasil Levski Youth Cultural Centre in Taraclia was renovated in the summer with financing from the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry to the amount of BGN 137,000 and the regional administration to the amount of MDL 337,567 (BGN 33,721), as well as money donated from Bulgarian and Moldovan sponsors, the Regional Council in Taraclia said.
