Bulgaria can offer a wide range of opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial business, said President Rumen Radev said on Wednesday at the opening of a business forum in Ho Chi Minh City. Radev is on an official visit to Vietnam.

“Vietnam is not just a trade partner for us. We did not come here for trade. We are here to look for friends and partners who will not limit themselves to trade, to develop research, research, technology, to produce together, to go to third country markets together. We are highly impressed by your development, especially the development and success of Ho Chi Minh City as a business and economic centre of Vietnam,” the Head of State said.

Similar to Vietnam, and especially Ho Chi Minh City, Bulgaria has a strategic location. Bulgaria is on the road between East and West, between Asia and the rest of Europe. So you cannot avoid Bulgaria, the President said. “We have the second largest border crossing in the world between Bulgaria and Turkiye. The first one is between the United States and Mexico,” Radev said.

The President said that the main challenge for the future, also recognized by the UN, is to solve the problem of food security. The world's population is constantly growing, and combined with climate change, this is a huge challenge for humanity, Radev said. “Bulgaria is working intensively to solve its problems, but also to help other countries around solve theirs. Based on our long tradition, we are developing sustainability, especially in this sector. We can also support Vietnam on the basis of the natural resources we have.”

Bulgaria can help, we can think together how to develop winning strategies.

Earlier in the day, President Radev met with Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Wednesday is the last day of President Radev's visit to Singapore and Vietnam. The President is accompanied by representatives of Bulgarian businesses from the information and high-tech sectors, defence, automotive and transport sectors, engineering.
