Bulgarian Defence Minister Todor Tagarev and Korean Ambassador to Bulgaria Jongin Bae held a meeting, focusing on the opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the fields of defence industries, emerging technological solutions and aerospace technologies, the Bulgarian Defence Ministry said in a press release here on Thursday.

The meeting also discussed the NATO Summit in Vilnius which was held in July, in light of the deepening partnership between NATO and the Republic of Korea.

Ambassador Jongin stressed that both Bulgaria and Korea, although put in a different geostrategic context, face some common challenges and there is significant potential for the future development of bilateral defence relations in this regard.

The meeting underlined the importance of the war in Ukraine for the security of Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea. The two sides emphasized that there is a need to show solidarity, because it is very clear who is the aggressor and who is the victim in this war. Attention was also paid to the contribution to the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, the ministry added.
