Between 10% and 20% of the deaths in Bulgaria from the most common chronic diseases (respiratory, diabetes, stroke, myocardial infarction) are related to breathing polluted air, Assoc Prof Angel Dzhambov of Medical University - Plovdiv said in an interview for BTA. That is due mostly to fine particles (PM 2.5) emitted by household sources and coal-fired power plants.
