Customs Officers Uncover
Fraud with Dyed
Diesel Fuel

Plovdiv, South Central Bulgaria, September 7 (BTA) - Customs
officers have uncovered a fraud with dyed Diesel fuel. An
analysis at tax warehouses showed that the fuel had been
declared for use in timber dry houses in Perushtitsa and
Peshtera, the Customs Agency said in a press release. Thus, the
payment of part of the excise duty was avoided, because the rate
for dyed fuel is 50 leva/t instead of the 645 leva/t required
for undyed fuel.

Thus far, the officers have confiscated at the customs in
Plovdiv 13 tonnes of marked Diesel fuel prepared for yet another
delivery for "timber drying". The analyses made show that since
the start of 2014 five related companies have used 851,500
litres of marked gas oil. These stated in the documentation that
they use the fuel for timber drying, while the conducted checks
showed that the equipment at the dry houses did not work with
Diesel fuel. At one of the sites the customs officers also found
an over-ground fuel reservoir connected to a fuel dispensing
column and a gun for refueling vehicles.

Through this criminal scheme the perpetrators have avoided the
payment of 506,000 leva of excise duty, the press release reads.
