Bulgaria without Censorship Ready to
Block Border with Turkey to
Prevent "Tourist Vote" at October Elections
Sofia, September 16 (BTA) - Bulgaria without Censorship (BwC)
will block the border with Turkey at the Kapitan Andreevo
checkpoint from October 1 to 6 to stop the buses with voters for
the October 5 early general elections, BwC leader Nikolai
Barekov told a news conference on Tuesday.
He urged President Rosen Plevneliev and Caretaker Prime Minister
Georgi Bliznashki to stop the import of voters from Turkey -
the so-called "tourist vote" - unless they want civil unrest.
Bulgarian authorities should impose a legal blockade at the
border, Barekov said. BwC will provide buses for Bulgarians
living in Romania for the elections, as a possible reply to the
buses from Turkey.
After the elections, BwC will propose that the National Assembly
introduce an educational census for voters and compulsory
voting. "In order to receive a voting licence and be allowed to
vote, you have to sit an exam in Bulgarian language, both spoken
and written, at the level of eight grade," Barekov explained.
"These more than 100,000 people with Bulgarian passports from
the Bosphorus, who are expected to come to Bulgaria for the
elections, are a ready bought vote for the Movement for Rights
and Freedoms [MRF]," he said.
Commenting on the meeting of MRF leader Lyutvi Mestan with
Turkish President Recep Erdogan, Barekov said that Mestan proved
to be a national traitor.
BwC also voiced disapproval at the number of polling districts
in Turkey allowed by the Central Election Commission (CEC).
According to Roumen Yonchev, leader of the Agrarian People's
Union within the BwC coalition, now that the "scandal with 4,000
fake voting registrations from a single IP address in Turkey
has erupted, it becomes clear why Bulgaria without Censorship
does not have a CEC member". The elections are a key element of
the national security, Yonchev said.
