10,000 People Visit
Third Festival of Bulgarian
Culture in London

Sofia, December 23 (BTA) - Ten thousand people visited the Third
London Festival of Bulgarian Culture, the Culture Ministry
said, quoting a letter from Svetla Dionissieva, Director of the
Bulgarian Cultural Institute (BCI) London, to Culture Minister
Vezhdi Rashidov.

The festival was organized by the BCI with support from the
Culture Ministry between October 20 and December 17. It
comprised 24 events attended by nearly 10,000 people, including
6,000 Britons and foreigners.

Dionissieva wrote: "More than 100 Bulgarian creative artists
demonstrated their exceptional talent in the fine arts,
photography, films, the theatre, classical, folk, pop and rock
music and ethno jazz."

The venues were some of the most prestigious halls in London,
including Cadogan Hall and the Clapham Grand, as well as the BCI
and the halls at the Bulgarian Embassy.

Dionissieva also said: "This Bulgarian cultural forum has
strengthened Bulgaria's image in Britain as a country with a
contribution to Europe's cultural diversity. There is evidence
of the interest in it in comments of BBC journalists and local
cultural institutions." LI/DD
