Prosecution Adds Eight More Defendants in Case Against  Anti-Democratic Ideology Group

Sofia, March 31 (BTA) - The prosecution has added eight more
defendants in a case against a group preaching anti-democratic
ideology, the prosecuting magistracy said in a press release
Tuesday.

In December 2014, six men and one woman were charged with
preaching the anti-democratic ideology of the Islamic State.
They are believed to have operated as an organized criminal
group led by Ahmed Moussa. They were also charged with war
propaganda.

In the course of the investigation for pretrial proceedings No.
87/2014 conducted by the District Prosecution Office in
Pazardjik (South Central Bulgaria), evidence was found for the
criminal activity of more individuals, the prosecuting
magistracy's press release reads. The persons added as
defendants in the case are Yosif Minchev, Rangel Iliev and
Alexander Ivanov from Plovdiv, Orhan Burzak, Rayko Kurtalov,
Vesselin Stefanov and Mustafa Ali from Pazardjik, and Nenko
Shterev from Asenovgrad. Iliev and Ali have been added as
defendants in their absence and a European Arrest Warrant has
been issued for them.

These eight persons are accused of participating in a group
preaching an anti-democratic religious extremist ideology and
the establishment of a caliphate (a crime under articles 108 and
 109 of the Penal Code), and of propagating war (a crime under
Article 407 of the Penal Code).

Measures have been taken for their detention for 72 hours and
the prosecution will demand from the Pazardjik District Court
that they remain in custody after this period.
