site.btaUPDATED Border Traffic Update
Traffic is intense on Sunday morning at some border crossing checkpoints with Romania, Serbia and Turkiye, according to the website of Border Police.
At the border with Romania, traffic is intense at checkpoints Vidin, Ruse, Durankulak and Kardam, at the exit for cars and trucks.
Due to major repairs on the Bulgarian section of the Danube Bridge at Ruse, traffic is temporarily reorganized in one lane, regulated by traffic lights. In addition to the Ruse checkpoint, drivers in the region can also head to Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kainardzha and Krushari checkpoints. The last two have opening hours from 8 am to 8 pm every day and no trucks are allowed through them.
Truck traffic in the area of the Danube Bridge border crossing at Ruse is extremely intense.
A queue of trucks has formed, about 1 km long, from the roundabout at Danube Bridge to the one in the area of Ruse Free Zone, a BTA reporter saw on Sunday at noon. The remaining trucks are waiting mainly in the buffer parking area.
The border crossing checkpoint informed that for the last twenty-four hours a total of 1,548 trucks have passed through the facility in both directions.
"I have been here since yesterday. There are a lot of trucks. A whole day wasted in queue on the border. On the way back, on the other side, it's the same. Can’t be helped," truck driver Hristo Todorov told BTA.
Car traffic towards Romania is intense, and is expected to increase in the afternoon.
At the border with Serbia, traffic is heavy at Kalotina, at the exit for cars.
Traffic is also heavy at the Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo checkpoints on the border with Turkiye, at the entrance for cars.
Traffic is normal at all border crossing points on the border with Greece.
In view of the significantly increased number of Romanian tourists travelling to and from Greece passing through the Kulata and Makaza border crossing points, travellers are advised to use alternative crossing points at the Bulgarian-Greek border, which are less congested and allow faster crossing.
Only cars and vans are allowed to pass through Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad.
At the border with North Macedonia, traffic is normal at all border crossing points.
