The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, said that there will be personnel changes in the Joint Multidisciplinary Commission of Experts on Historical and Educational Issues between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, Media Information Agency said. In Mickoski's words, the current composition of the Commission does not meet expectations and "does not defend the national interests of the Macedonian people".

According to Mickoski, there is no political context in this. It is normal for a new government, new people who rule, to introduce personnel changes, he argued. "I personally believe that the current Multidisciplinary Commission absolutely did not meet expectations and was not a defender of Macedonian people’s national interests" Mickoski added.

The Joint Multidisciplinary Commission of Experts on Historical and Educational Issues between Bulgaria and North Macedonia was established under the bilateral Treaty of Friendship, Goodneighbourliness and Cooperation, signed on August 1, 2017, and in force as from February 14, 2018. The Commission is composed of historians and academics from both countries.
