Man Connected with Former Gangland Group Shot Dead in Sofia

Sofia, January 8 (BTA) - A man was shot dead in a Sofia suburban gated community shortly before 8.30 pm on Thursday evening, the Interior Ministry said.

The Interuior Ministry idenified the deceased person as Vesselin Stoimenov, 53, connected to the former gangland group VIS. He was killed with seven shots. Traces of many more shots were found at the scene of the crime.

The area was cordoned off. An investigation is underway.

In the past Stoimenov was responsible for the facilities of the former VIS group along the Black Sea coast.

Speaking in TV breakfast show on Friday morning, Justice Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva said that there is no doubt that Stoimenov's murder is a contract killing carried out by professionals.
