FDI Grows Over 20% Y-Y

Veliko Turnovo, North Central Bulgaria, June 14 (BTA) - Foreign direct investment (FDI) has grown by 23 per cent from 2015, said Economy Minister Bozhidar Loukarski in Veliko Turnovo on Tuesday. According to him, the largest number of investors come from the Netherlands, Russia and Germany.

The Minister said that the EU funds don't make the Bulgarian economy lazier, but more competitive and predicted that the current EU programming period will be more successful than the previous one.

Loukarski noted an EU trend to roll back grant schemes at the expense of low-interest loans.

The Minister took part in an Information Day on the Energy Efficiency for SMEs procedure under the Operational Programme Innovations and Competitiveness.
