Migrant Pressure in Bulgaria Subsides, Interior Minister Buchvarova Says

Vidin, on the Danube, June 24 (BTA) - Migrant pressure in Bulgaria is lower this year, compared to last year, said here on Friday Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova, who took part in a working meeting on crime prevention. Despite the decrease, the Interior Ministry is making all necessary efforts to detain persons who have crossed illegally into Bulgaria. The fact that more migrants are caught exiting this country proves that the security system is working well, regardless of how illogical this may seem, she explained.

Buchvarova took part in a working meeting with representatives of the local authorities, the law enforcement structures, the prosecuting magistracy, regional police directorates, which is part of the Interior Ministry's and the National Association of Municipalities' crime prevention campaign. The initiative aims to engage all institutions responsible for improving the security environment.
