Rock Concert on Musala Peak Kicks Off Major Cleaning Campaign

Sofia, July 6 (BTA) - A rock concert 40 m below Musala Peak in Mount Rila - the highest peak in the Balkan Peninsula, standing at 2,925 m, will mark the start of a major campaign to clean the area from construction waste, the organizers of the event: Tangra Mega Rock Radio and the Institute of Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, said.

The concert is to take place on July 30 and will be the highest-altitude concert ever held in Europe.

The cleaning of the area surrounding the peak is part of a long-term national campaign to present the mountain not as a tourist destination but as a piece of nature deserving special attitude and respect.

The sound volume of the concert will be controlled so as not to disturb the wild animals in the area and will be streamed to the audience who will be sitting in amphitheatre-like stands on the slope to the peak.
