There Is Untapped Potential for Development of Bulgarian-Swiss Economic Relations

Sofia, July 6 (BTA) - Bulgarian-Swiss economic relations are at a good level and there is a potential for their further development. This opinion was shared by Bulgarian National Assembly Chairperson Tsetska Tsacheva and Swiss National Council President Christa Markwalder in a joint statement made to journalists at the Bulgarian Parliament on Wednesday. Markwalder, who is paying an official visit here at Tsacheva's invitation, was welcomed at the debating chamber of the Bulgarian National Assembly.

The two heads of parliament noted the high level of bilateral relations. "We discussed opportunities for more vigorous trade and for foreign investments in Bulgaria. There is an untapped potential in tourism and other sectors," said Tsacheva. She thanked Switzerland for financial support to various projects and expressed the hope that a new programming period will also be envisaged, as well as possible additional financial support for dual education.

For her part, the guest said that Swiss business is interested in investing in Bulgaria. She expressed satisfaction with the targeted use of Swiss financial support. Markwalder noted that this is her first visit to Bulgaria and that she was impressed with the country's diverse culture and history.

The National Council President attended a press launch of a book by Prof. Venelin Tsachevski entitled "Bulgaria and Switzerland Together in History".
